Activated bleaching earth belongs to benotine product under acidizing treatment. With high chemical activity, Activated bleaching earth possesses strong ion exchange property, selective adsorption, hydrophilicity, surface activity and catalyze, and it can adsorb and remove asphaltine, neutral colloid, sulphide, olefine nahthenate mineral substance in lubricating oil, eliminates pigment, flavacol, 3---4 benzopyrene cancerogenic substance and other harmful ingredients in vegetable oil. Therefore, activated bleaching earth is mainly used for discoloring of various kinds of oil and fat to add safety of storage besides adding color and luster and beautiful feeling. At present, activated bleaching earth is extensively used for adsorption of lubricating oil, paraffin and Vaseline, discoloring of animal and vegetable oil and purification of bee, wax and glycerin, especially for discoloring of tung-oil, palm oil, cotton seed oil and soybean oil. Activated bleaching earth also can improve wearing property of lubricating oil and stabilizing ability of light, and strengthen anticorrosion resistance. It has strong ability to discolor grease, fast speed to filter, and low oil productivity of filter mass represents direction of development of present activated clay.
