Chondroitin sulfate consists of repeating chains of molecules called glycosminoglycans (GAGs)which is extracted from animal cartiage and trechea. It is derived from the same polymer D-glucuronic acid and D-N-acetyl galactosamine. They can be sulphated at positions 4or 6 of N-acetyl galactosamine and position 2 of the uronic acid. The molecular weight of Chondroitin Sulfate is between 10, 000 Daltons to 30, 000 Daltons. It contains 50 to 70 glycosaminoglycan.
