Properties:
Pure product is Colourless crystals. M. P. 200± 20º C. Technical product is white or buff crystal powder. Bulk density of technical product is 0.5 g/cm3. Solubility in water is 1.2%(25º C). Insoluble in common organic solvents, e. G. Acetone, ethanol and xylene. The alkali metal and amine salts are readily soluble in water. Be absorbed into glebe easily Glyphosate IPA appears buff and neutrals liquid. It's readily soluble in water. The density of glyphosate 41% IPA is 1.16 and 62% IPA is 1.24. The solution is mordant to iron and zincing iron. It's uninflammable, unexplosive and has well storing stability at normal temperature.
Toxicity:
Acute oral LD50 for rats 5600 mg/kg. Skin and eye Acute percutaneous LD50 for rabbits is 7000mg/kg. It's Mild eye irritant; Non-irritating to skin (rabbits). It's also non-irritating for fishes and aquatics and so on. It does no teratogeny, no saltation and no carcinogenic to animals in experiments.
Uses:
One of the most widely used broad spectrum (non-selective), systemic, post-emergence herbicide. It is used to control annual and perennial plants. Glyphosate is used to control grasses, sedges, broadleaf weeds and woody plants. It is used on various crops, orchards, plantations, pastures, lawns, gardens, forestry, roadsides, and aquatic weed control. Other uses include pre-harvest desiccation of cotton, cereals, peas, beans, etc. The sodium salt (Quotamaster) is used on peanuts and as a growth regulator on sugar cane to hasten ripening, enhance sugar content and promote earlier harvesting.
