Ginger
Ginger originated in India. In early days people in China and Malaysia began to plant and eat it. Nowadays in China more gingers are growing in the southern Guangdong area and the northern Shandong area. Ginger tastes pungent and smells fragrant. It is a nutritious condiment and good medicine, too.

Yam
Strip-shaped or columniform, pale yellow or brown yellow, milk-white section. Yam belongs to the yam family, which has a 2000-year planting history and can be edible and medicine. Yam favors a warm and humid climate while fearing ponding and drought. The fertile and loose sandy loam with the deep layer and good drainage suits it very well. The root of yam contains rich protein, amino acid, vitamin and starch. It is a good medicine against diabetes.

Shallot (green onion)
Straight body, solid sheath, no injury and fresh. Shallot belongs to the lily family. People eat its stem. It contains rich carbohydrate, protein, vitamin and phosphorus, and smells pungent and appetitive. It is one of the fine condiments, and also has a function of sterilization.

Winter Bamboo Shoots
Winter bamboo shoots are the tender part of the bamboo stem. They contain rich protein, vitamin B1 & B2, natural mineral elements and edible fibers. Their origin is in South China.

Lotus Roots

Whole and thick body, fresh, 2-3 joints, cream-colored, more starch, less fiber. Lotus roots belong to the water lily family. People eat their bulgy stems in mud. Normally they contain 10%~20% of starch and 1%~2% of protein.
