Changan Bus, a wholly owned subsidiary of Changan Group, recently reported that its sales volume was up by 1.96% in the first four months of 2009. Against the backdrop that China’s bus & coach. sales slumped by 32.73% in the same period, it cannot be denied that Changan Bus is a black horse and has won the battle in the cutthroat bus market in China.

Recently, LIU Zhongling, Deputy General Manager of Changan Bus, took an interview with us and shared with us Changan’s story of success. He pointed out that the unprecedented challenges posed to the company in latter half of 2008 has made it realize one way out of the difficulties is to move closer to its customers. In response to the different needs of customers, the bus builder has been taken swifter and more concrete measures so that it successfully retained its old customers and attracted more new ones.

Driven by the value of applicability, reliability and efficiency, Changan Bus has shifted more of its focus on the practical needs of customers. In order to get a deeper understanding of the market, LIU Zhongling has led a team conducting extensive market research across China. They found that customers have become increasingly cost conscious after the new emission stand went into effect. Bearing this in mind, Changan Bus has been actively involved in popularizing its CNG buses, the sales volume of which has now accounted for 30% of its total sales volume, up from the previous 10%. The good performance of its CNG buses has thus greatly boosted its total sales volume. In the meantime, thanks to customers’ growing appetite for city buses measuring between five to seven meters long, its products of this category further helped the company win a number of new orders....

8th and 9th April, Liuping Xu, Chairman of Changan group accepted the Seattle Channel and Hongkong Asia Weekly’s interview and talked about the future development of Changan Auto.

Liuping Xu said: At present, the Changan Automotive joint-stock company has entered the first class of the Chinese auto. We are actively planning the next strategy. The overall goal is the two million in 2012. Next, Changan will be more focus on domestic market demand, improve customer satisfaction, timely adjust product line structure, continuously introducing new products to meet user needs, and expand the profit growth of Changan. In terms of skills adjustment; first, to increase marketing and advertising investment and increase investment in product R & D, reduce the management cost. Second is to put focus on R & D and advertising is on energy saving and environmental protection, making the future car more environmental protection, energy saving and security.
