It is a true luxury chair, yet its luxury is not determined by the materials it is made of, but more by the way these materials are combined and crafted in small series. Plywood is plywood, which by itself is not the most expensive material, even if it is veneered with real redwood. The combination is what makes the extravagance, plus the material has proven its ruggedness and durability. Another such example: The sand cast aluminium bases (the molds are made of sand) reveal the grainy structure of the sand, except for the hand polished upper surfaces of the base. Please note that these molds are hand made as well and can't be used very often before they need replacing.
