Choline is indispensable for the bio-synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, basic component of cell memberane and precursor of neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Deficiency of choline may cause hepatic steatosis, ophthalmoptosis, anaemia, abdominal distention, etc. Choline usually comes in the form of choline chloride.
