Description: Yellow powder, almost odourless
Solubility: Practically insoluble in water, Sparingly soluble in either, slightly soluble in ethanol (96%)

Identification:
A)the infrared absorption spectrum, Appendix II A, is concordant with the reference spectrum of nitroxynil.
B)The light absorption, Appendix IIB, in th4e range 220 to 350nm of a 0.002% w/v solution in 0.01M sodium.
C)Heat with sulpheric acid; Iodine vapour is evolved
Melting point: 136-140
Loss on drying: Not more than 0.5%
Heavy metals: Not more than 10ppm
Sulphated Ash: Not more than 0.1%
Assay: 98.O-100.5% (Calculated on the dried basis)
Remarks: The Product confirms to BPV2003 Specification with respect to above tests
