The Paraffin Emulsion Fluid takes non-ionic surface active agent, Paraffin and lube oil as main raw materials. It is produced under a certain processing which adopts the method of colloidal chemistry. It's diameter is less than 0.5 micron measured by light scattering method. It has good flowability and is easy to disperse in the water. The drilling fluid which is added in Paraffin emulsion fluid can form ultra-low-permeable Paraffin shielding zone near the sidewall. As a result it can efficiently prevent the deep formation from being invaded by the solid particles and the filtrate of the drilling fluid and completion fluid. It can avoid the gangway to be permanently blocked up by the drilling fluid and can finely protect the oil layer as well. At the same time because the shielding agent is the Paraffin which is easy to reverse drain off it will not damage the oil layer.
The result of clay swelling test shows that the degree of swelling is about 30% decreased after the adding of 3% Paraffin emulsion fluid compare with which in deionized water. This indicates that the Paraffin emulsion fluid has a certain effect of restraining to the clay swelling. The result of shale recovery shows that the rate of recovery in 3% Paraffin emulsion fluid is higher than that in 6% KCl solution. It has a better effect to combine with inorganic salt KCl or NaCl. The result of lubricating capacity test shows that the coefficient of coupling decrease along with the adding of the Paraffin emulsion fluid and it will approach zero when the adding reach 5. 0%. This indicates that the adding of Paraffin emulsion fluid can obviously improve the lubricating capacity of the drilling fluid. As the temperature rising, its lubricating capacity increase furtherly which is higher than the mineral oil.
The Paraffin emulsion fluid is a kind of multiple drilling fluid treating agent. It is atoxic and has no fluorescence. It possesses the effects like lubricating, shale swelling and dispersion inhibiting, oil layer protecting. The using of this produce can enhance the product ability of the oil (gas) well. It is especially compatible to the drill-in of the low permeable oil layer.
