Rockwool is a kind of popular growing medium. Made from rock which has been melted and spun into fibrous cubes and growing slabs with the texture of insulation, Rockwool provides roots with a good balance of water/oxygen. Small cubes are used for starting seeds and cuttings, 3" or 4" cubes for small plants or intermediate growth, and slabs for larger plants. Rockwool can be used with continuous drip or flood and drain systems. Although it is possible to sterilize and re-use Rockwool, most often it is used only once.

Mineral wool board insulations are made from basalt rock and steel slag. This combination results in a non-combustible product with a melting point of approximately 2150º F (1177º C), which gives it excellent fire resistance properties. Mineral wool is a water repellent yet vapor permeable material. Product can be faced with reinforced foil, ASJ and glass mat facings.

Mineral wool board insulation is a non-combustible, semi-rigid board insulation that is lightweight and water repellent. It is excellent for specifications requiring high temperature (1200º F) insulation accompanied with a need for durability and compressive resistance.

Mineral wool resists temperatures up to approximately 1, 000º C. It can act as a fire barrier against the spread of the fire and provides valuable extra minutes to save people and property, and reduce environmental damage.

Applications include: General commercial construction, storage tank insulation, drying and oven equipment, petro-chemical and power generating equipment protection.
