Spun silk is a yarn of natural protein fiber. Spun silk has compact structure, evenness, clean appearance, elegant luster, good moisture-absorbing capability, good strength and elongation, and fine and soft fiber. It is useful for weaving ,knitting high-class spun silk products which can be used as daily-use articles and decorations also.

Sources of spun silk
There are several sources of spun silk:
1.Pierced cocoons, the result of breeding moths that have emerged from their cocoons;
2.Double cocoons or doupion, which result when two cocoons have been spun too closely together;
3.Floss, brushed from cocoons before reeling;
4.Friese, the coarse and uneven silk fibre at the beginning and end of each cocoon;
5.Scrap, the machine waste left over from reeling.
