CALCIUM CHLORIDE

Molecular Formula: CaCl2

Calcium Chloride's Property: Flake, granule or fused mass, slightly bitter, odorless. Very hygroscopic, deliquescent, freely soluble in water (with liberation of much heat) and ethanol. The aqueous solution is weak basic and has low solidifying point. Keep well closed.

Calcium Chloride's Useness: Calcium chloride anhydrous is a commonly used desiccator for gas and organic liquid. The aqueous solution is an important refrigerant. It is used in manufacture of calcium, barium salts; As concrete antifreeze mixture to give quick initial set and better strength; In fire extinguishers, dust control on unpaved road; As anti-fogging agent, boiler scale remover; As coagulant, curing agent, etc.
