Ceramic Seal Face or Ring

Mechanical seal is usually composed by a pair of ring and static ring, seals, springs, thrust ring and other types of screw component, it mainly for pumps, compressors, hydraulic transmission, and other similar devices the rotation axis of the seal. For example, in a pump, when a shaft rotates, the liquid can leak out between the shaft and the pump casing. In this case, to prevent leakage a mechanical seal would be used, which basically consists of a hard material embedded in the casing and a softer material in the rotating shaft. These are made to be in intimate contact. The choice of seal materials depends on the material being pumped, its chemical reactivity, the temperature and the pressure.

One commonly used engineering ceramics are alumina, silicon nitride and silicon carbide, which is so-called Ceramic Mechanical Seal. Ceramics has high hardness, wearing resistance, good corrosion resistance and good heat resistance characteristics, so it is an ideal dynamic and static ring sealing surface material. In which silicon carbide is a recent development of new material? In addition to the general characteristics of ceramics, it also has good chemical stability, heat resistance and thermal vibration resistance.

We have developed ceramic seal face or ring in upto 99.5% alumina ceramic. 99.5% alumina ceramic is virtually inert to almost all organic and inorganic chemicals. They do not interact with, nor contaminate the fluid or the media. Chemical application have been well accepted by many mechanical seal manufacturers. They have passed the test in high concentrate acids and rough terrain application such as in slurry pumps etc. Ceramic seal face or ring are lapped and polished to achieve best accuracy, which is maintained by grinding on outer diameter, concentration, inner diameter, and surface to obtain 0.02 tolerance. They are widely used in spacecraft, machinery, metallurgy, printing and dyeing, foodstuff, pharmaceutical, auto industry and so on.
