Product Description

- Process: Formaldehyde solution is produced from oxidation of methanol with electrolytic silver as catalyst.
- Physical Properties: Formaldehyde is a colorless transparent liquid, concentration 37%, with strong irritant, suffocative odours, maximum concentration limit in air 5mg/m3. Formaldehyde vapor irritates mucous membrane. Concentrated formaldehyde shall cause corrosion to skin. it is easily soluble in water and alcohol with high reductibility, gradually oxidized in air to form formic acid or methanol by reduction. Formaldehyde is flammable, ignition temperature is about 300ºC, auto ignition temperature is about 430ºC, explosion limit 7-73%(V/V). Formaldehyde is easy to polymerize at low temperature to form insoluble white sediment.

- Applications: Formaldehyde is used as raw material to produce medicine, synthetic fibres, synthetic resins, plastics antiseptic, disinfectant and reductant.
- Packing: Packed in dry, clean steel drum with anticorrosion coating or tank car. Labels of No. 5 flammable liquid and No. 11 toxic substances of GB190 "Packaging and labeling of Dangerous Chemicals" must be firmly pasted on containers.
- Storage: Separately stored in cool, ventilated warehouse according to lot no. and equipped with fire-fighting facilities. Storage temperature should be 8-40ºC. Both manufacturer and end user should take necessary measures to reduce the polymerization of formaldehyde to ensure quality.
- Transportation: Suitable for rail, road and sea transportation.
- Safe handling and precautions:
1. Keep away from fire.
2. Its vapour with air may form explosive mixture.
3. Take precautionary measures against static discharges when drumming and during transportation.
4. Handle gently during transportation, avoid strike, sunshine and rain.
5. Regulations on related dangerous chemical substances adopted by the State must be observed for transportation and the permission to use chemicals obtained.
6. Persons in touch with Formaldehyde must be equipped with personal protectors.
