The EZ Smart Blood Glucose Test Strips are used with the EZ Smart Blood Glucose Meter to measure glucose (sugar) in whole blood. The EZ Smart Test Strips are for testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use). The EZ Smart Blood Glucose Monitoring System is intended for use in the home and in professional settings to monitor blood glucose levels

Introduction

Self Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG) is a necessary part of the treatment plan of people with diabetes mellitus1. The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT)2 has confirmed the significant benefits from SMBG when practiced as part of a larger intensive strategy to tightly control blood glucose concentrations. The DCCT showed that tight control can actually reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as blindness, kidney disease, nerve damage, and heart and circulatory system problems by about 60%.
The EZ Smart Blood Glucose Test Strip, used with the EZ Smart Blood Glucose Meter, will accurately measure your blood glucose value. When the edge of the EZ Smart strip is touched to a drop of blood, the test strip draws the blood into the sample chamber and your glucose reading is displayed on the meter after an average of 10 seconds. The test measures glucose from 20 mg/dL (1.1mmol/L) to 600 mg/dL (33.3 mmol/L). The EZ Smart Test Strip is calibrated to display the equivalent of plasma glucose values to allow easy comparison of results with laboratory methods.

Storage and Handling

Store at room temperature between 4-30 Centigrade (40-86 Fahrenheit). Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Store away from direct sunlight and heat.
Use each strip immediately after removing it from the vial.
Store your test strips in their original vial only. The cap or vial contains drying agents to protect the test strips. Do not transfer test strips to a new vial or any other container.
After removing a test strip from the vial, replace the vial cap immediatelyand close it tightly.
Do not bend, cut, or alter an EZ Smart Test Strip in any way.
With clean, dry hands you may gently touch the test strip anywhere when removing it from the vial or inserting it into the meter.
Performance Characteristics
The performance of the EZ Smart Test Strips has been tested both in laboratory and clinical studies. The testing range of the EZ Smart System is 20 mg/dL (1.1mmol/L) to 600 mg/dL (33.3 mmol/L).
