Product Description

Rabies Vaccine (Hamster Kidney Cell) for Human Use

Active Ingredient: Inactivated rabies virus

Description: It's obtained from fixed-rabies-virus-inoculated primary hamster kidney cell, followed by virus propagation, harvest, inactivation, condensation, purification, and adding of other agent.

Presentation and Packing: It's transparent colorless solution (small volume injection), each vial contains 1ml injection not less than 2.5IU/ml of rabies vaccine. 5 vials are collected into a pack, 20 packs are loaded into a box

Indication: Indicated to people (no age and sex difference) who has been bite or scratched by rabid dog or any other rabid animal (post-exposure vaccination), and to people who may be at high risk of exposure to rabies, or whose activities bring them into frequent contact with rabies virus or with possibly rabid animals, such as veterinarians, animal handlers, rabies laboratory workers, spelunkers, and rabies biologics production workers etc (pre-exposure vaccination ).

Administration and dosage: Administered by intramuscular injection. Shake the vaccine well before use.
1. Should be given by I. M in deltoid area, and for babies, the injecting spot could be at lateral area of thigh.
2. Exposure type and corresponding handle
Class I: Touching of animal, licked by animal but without any skin wound, usually the rabies vaccination is not necessary.
Class II: People with non-bleeding skin wounds due to bit, scratched or licked by animal, should receive rabies vaccination according to post-exposure schedule.
Class III: People with single or multiple bleeding wounds due to bite or scratch by rabid animal; Mucous membrane contaminated by saliva of rabid dog or animal with potential risk, should receive rabies vaccination immediately together with administration of rabies antiserum or HRIG (Human Rabies Immunoglobulin). A dosage of 40IU/kg of rabies antiserum or 20IU/kg HRIG should be given to the patient. Try to give local infiltrating injection with rabies antiserum or HRIG as much as possible around the wound, and give the rest of the agent by intramuscular injection.
3. Post-exposure treatment schedule and dosage: Immunization should begin as soon as possible after exposure. A complete course of post-exposure treatment for previously unvaccinated people (both adults and children) contains total 5 doses of vaccine; 1.0ml one each at days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28. A doubled dose for the first injection is recommended when following occurs:
People who have received rabies antiserum or HRIG within one month before vaccination;
People with congenital or acquired immunizing defect;
People who are receiving immunosuppressive agent (including antimalarials)
Aged people and people with chronic disease
Patient receive rabies vaccination after exposed 48 hours or longer
4. Pre-exposure vaccination schedule: A complete course of pre-exposure prophylaxis for previously unvaccinated people (both adults and children) contains total 3 doses of vaccine; 1.0ml intramuscularly each on days 0, 7, and 28.
5. Recommendation for people who have received rabies vaccination before:
People who have received a complete course immunization within one year, inject one dose of vaccine; 1.0ml each at day 0 and day 3, after bit by suspicious rabid animal.
People who have received a complete course immunization one year before, should take full course of vaccination.
People who have received a full course immunization within 3 years including a booster immunization, inject one dose of vaccine; 1.0 ml each at day 0 and day 3, after bit by suspicious rabid animal.
People who have received a full course immunization including a booster immunization 3 years before, should take full course of vaccination.
Shelf Life: 12 months
Storage: The product should be kept at 2~8 0c and avoid from light during storage and transportation.
