Product Description

Acrylic acid undergoes the typical reactions of a carboxylic acid and, when reacted with an alcohol, it will form the corresponding ester. The esters and salts of acrylic acid are collectively known as acrylates. The most common alkyl esters of acrylic acid are methyl-, butyl-, ethyl-, and 2-ethylhexyl-acrylate.
Inhalation:
May be destructive to the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
Ingestion:
Highly toxic! May cause pain and burning in the mouth, pharynx, and stomach, vomiting diarrhea, and fall in blood pressure. Asphyxia may occur from edema of the glottis.

Skin Contact:
Toxic! Corrosive! May cause irritation, inflammation, burns, and skin rashes. Absorption through the skin may cause systemic poisoning, nausea, and vomiting.
Eye Contact:
Corrosive! Vapors may cause irritation. Splashes from dilute solutions may cause burns and serious eye damage.
First Aid Measures
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

Ingestion:
DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Give large quantities of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician immediately.
Skin Contact:
Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Eye Contact:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately.
Accidental Release Measures
Ventilate area of leak or spill. Remove all sources of ignition. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Isolate hazard area.
Handling and Storage
Protect against physical damage. Detached storage is preferred. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, non-combustible area.
