EL technology uses a specially formulated chemical film that emits light when an electrical voltage is applied across it. It's principle of operation is similar to that of a capacitor, but it has a phosphor-based chemical sandwiched between the electrodes. Multiple layers of these images are placed by our design team in carefully selected sections of the final image to create different lighting effects, and to create the illusion of movement. Finally, a screen-printed image is placed on top of these layers, and a microcontroller is connected which will light each layer in sequence. The finished product is a 1mm thick breathtaking sight to behold when electrical power is connected, and this provides a very vivid form of advertisement.
EL can be used where high impact and night time visibility is required, and for basic effects can be a good alternative to expensive large format LED displays.
