Details: Rooibos (red bush) tea originates from the leaves and stems of the Aspalathus Linearis plant which is indigenous to South Africa. The tea is mild, with a fruity, sweet taste and contains no added colours or preservatives.

Traditionally, rooibos is oxidised and this gives it the red colour for which it is known. In addition to our regular rooibos, we are now offering unoxidised green rooibos tea. This tea has a slightly different taste to conventional rooibos and is particularly high in antioxidants, meaning that it can easily be marketed as a health tea.

We offer top quality rooibos in a variety of cuts, from fine cut tea (for use in double chamber tea bags) to long cut, loose leaf tea. We supply our teas either in bulk, or packaged into tea bags according to our customers requirements.

All our tea products are supplied with a valid export inspection certificate from the South African Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB), and a phytosanitary certificate from the governments Department of Agriculture.

Conventional teas contain high levels of tannins, which decrease the nutrients you usually gain from your diet. Rooibos contains very few tannins and no caffeine, making it a far healthier option. The minerals in rooibos tea include iron, potassium, calcium, copper, zinc, magnesium, fluoride, manganese and sodium.

The health-giving properties of rooibos tea are well documented. Studies show that rooibos relieves mild depression, nervous tension, constipation, stomach cramps, allergic symptoms (including hay fever and asthma) and insomnia.

In addition, several studies show that rooibos contains highly beneficial natural antioxidants. These antioxidants minimise the harmful effects of free radicals in the body, such as damage to the DNA within cells which can result in cancer. Rooibos also prevents free radicals from oxidising cholesterol, and reduces clogged blood vessels, heart attack, and stroke.
