The manufacture of petroleum-based products has also attracted increasing concern and criticism in recent years from those concerned about the consequences for our environment.
It is therefore not surprising that one of the greatest challenges to the energy industry has always been to find a workable raw material that can provide a good, versatile and natural alternative to petroleum oils.
The founders of Worldwide Bio Refineries Plc (WBR) & NRG began to seriously address this challenge over twenty years ago. Persistent and dedicated research since then has led to the development of an ideal and truly practical solution that produces biodiesel and polyurethane polyols.
Today, an extensive range of vegetable oils (and other natural bases) can now be used within the manufacturing process to produce polyols and biodiesel of quite exceptional quality and properties.
These raw materials are of course, obtained from widely available renewable resources from the Far East. The system is cost effective and most importantly, friendly to our environment.
This represents a profound point in the history of vegetable oil processing to produce industrial products.
Denis Potter and Ray Johnson formed Worldwide Bio Refineries Plc and are known and respected today as a world-leading authority on biodiesel production.
In the early days, they focused mainly on creating biodiesel and polyols in the laboratory using castor and rapeseed oils. Success was even achieved using fish oils. They produced biodiesel over 25 years ago and it was satisfactory but there was no commercial reason for its exploitation.
Since then, the company has continued to evolve the process to encompass virtually all naturally occurring oils, including: Coconut, Cottonseed, Palm, Sunflower, Soya and also Tallow, fats and many others.
