How to avoid fraud

If most of your orders are obtained through your sales people, pay special attention to any unsolicited orders. Here are some "red flags" to watch out for:

  • Use L/C (Letter of credit)
  • Search related government websites for information and help (Please Click Public Trade Organizations)
  • Please pay attention to web address that supplier/buyer offered, If the web address behind http:// part does not end with .made-in-china.com before the first single slash, it is a fake website. If you are unsure about the website, please directly contact us and our legal department will deal with it. In order to avoid such frauds, we highly recommend our Secured Trading Services to you.
  • Ask MIC when you are unsure about a supplier or when you need professional assistance to conduct business with Chinese suppliers ( fee based service )

Be suspicious when:

  • The supplier/customer avoids giving you hard information about its company. They may act excited but vague; emphasizing what a great opportunity this is for you. (Solution: credibility check and A&V reports available through MIC.)
  • The supplier asks you for up-front payment.Since payment options other than T/T and Western Union are currently quite limited in China and therefore a Western Union account is not always a reason to be suspicious, it is still important to recognize that fraudulent suppliers have used Western Union accounts for money scams! Once the money is paid, it becomes difficult to follow up where the money actually went to and it is impossible to get the money back.
