Formaldehyde - free Plastic Colorants: As melt-in type and formaldehyde-free colorants, JCOLOR?JC-200 series fluorescent pigments are designed for coloring high performance plastics under higher temperature processing conditions. They are universal plastic colorants with broad compatibility, very good fade-resistant property, outstanding heat stability, excellent plateout resistant,and minimal color shifts over a wide processing temperature range. JC-200 series can be used for preparing extruded color compounds and liquid color dispersions for use ininjection, rotational and blow molding, extruded film and sheet, blown and calendared film, vacuum forming, casting, etc.
Colorfastness: The properties of the plastic, level of colorant loading, film or object thickness, presence of a protective overcoat or agent and the nature and incident angle of the light source are among the factors affecting fading. An improvement of 10 to 30% in exterior light stability results from the incorporation of 0.5 to 1.0% of a benzotriazole or benzophenone type UV screen. Care should be taken in selecting an UV screening compound that is compatible with the plastic in which it is to be incorporated.
Typical End Uses: Plastic safety equipment, consumer product containers, toys, sheeting and graphics arts displays, sporting goods and apparel, visual attention-oriented packaging, wire coating, and housewares.
Processing: As noted, JC-200 is recommended for plastics systems with processes temperatures up to 300C. The addition of 1% of an antioxidant can result in enhancement in heat-stability. JC-200 series can be processed easily without dispersion aids. But if it is determined that processing aids are necessary, zinc-based additives should be avoided whenever possible since the presence of zinc tends to cause color shift.
Storage: Under conditions that are cool, dry, covered, away from direct sunlight and free of airborne contaminates, the shelf life of the JC-200 pigments will be indefinite.
Toxicity: JCOLOR?JC-200 fluorescent pigments are essentially non-toxic, with zero formaldehyde emission and extremely low heavy-metal content, safe to be applied in end products such as toys. Material safety data sheet (MSDS) is available upon request.
