Nanjing Electric (group ) Co., Ltd. (the former name: Nanjing Electro-Ceramic Factory ) was established in 1936, which is a national large-scale first-class enterprise, key leading enterprise of the mechanical industry now, the new high-tech enterprise of Nanjing. It has been awarded ISO9001: 2000 quality management system certificate and obtained the titles such as national model of electro-ceramic trade and national enterprise of good quality and benefit, etc...The trade mark of thunder and lightning brand registered in 1937 enjoys great prestige domestic and internationally.

The company lies in swallow cliff of Nanjing Yangtze River, adjoins the second bridge of Nanjing River and the high-tech development zone in Nanjing Xin Sheng Wei harbour. It covers an area of 390, 000 square meters, in which the construction area is 170, 000 square meters. The company has 6 professional manufacturing factories, a joint venture company. Both the volumes of production and marketing occupy first in domestic same trade. The total amount of Staff in company is more than 2800 people, among which over 600 are professional technical personnel. The company has thousands of various main products divided ten big classes, such as toughened glass insulators from 40-530kN, condensing bushings from 20-1000kV, high voltage mutual inductors from 110-220kV, high voltage disconnectors from 15-220kV, high voltage electric porcelain, large porcelain bushings, spark plug, etc. The products not only make a complete set for domestic power construction, railway electrification, subway, etc., and also are exported a lot to more than 50 countries and regions in the world. Among them, toughened glass insulators, condensing bushings and spark plugs were produced firstly by the company in China. They are the main products for export and always keep good occupation rate in domestic market.

The toughened glass insulators with the brand thunder and lightning are produced by the company with the foreign advanced technology and their own intellectual property. The quality of the product has reached the contemporary international advanced level among the same kind of products. The product has become the national outstanding new technological product and the famous brand product of Jiangsu Province, which has already been used on more than 200 transmission lines for 500kV both in China and world (among them 21 transmission lines for EHV in Three-Gorge engineering). Since the third term of technical reform was finished in 2006, the company has been able to produce 10 millions pieces of glass insulators per year with four forming lines, and become world-class glass insulator manufacturers.

The condensing bushings with the brand thunder and lightning have gained national silver medal award for its quality two times. They are the leading products in Nanjing which are used a long-term for a complete set of transformers by every large transformer factory in China, among which both AC and DC 690 kV extra high voltage wall bushings were developed and produced successfully in 2001 which achieved the domestic new record; 750kV transformer bushings researched and produced in 2004 have filled the domestic gaps; In the year of 2006 million volts of special high-voltage wall bushings were developed and produced which create the first in China again.
