Industrial Wafer Brushes

Wafer brushes are used for a variety of cleaning and construction jobs such as trommel cleaning, road resurfacing, and runway sweeping. These are the most commonly used brushes. Wafer brushes feature a segmented replacement design which enhances their versatility. Wafers come in a wide variety of styles, colors, and filament choices.

Industrial wafer brushes come in different sizes depending on their application. Most wafer brushes have a 10 inch inner diameter. 6⅜ inch inner core sizes are also available. 8 inch core sizes will be available in 2017. Most wafer brushes uses an outer diameter between 30 and 40 inches long with polypropylene bristles.

Wafer Brush Styles : Flat and Convoluted
Wafer brushes come in a variety of different styles that depends on their application. Flat wafers are useful for most sweeping and cleaning jobs. They come built with a single rivet to latch onto an arbor during use. Flat wafer brushes can be used in tandem with convoluted wafers for additional sweeping power.

The curved wafer, known as a convoluted wafer brush, has bristle filaments at different angles. This gives the broom added effectiveness in sweeping debris away from the attachment. Convoluted wafers are also known as a "spacerless wafer". Due to their curved shape, spacers are not required.

Filaments and Use

There are two main filament choices for most wafer brushes: polypropylene and steel wire. Polypropylene offers a softer filament that won't cut into the harder road surfaces. Poly bristles are ideal for runway sweeping and sensitive applications where metal debris cannot be left behind. Our steel wire is offers a more abrasive option and allows for more "cutting power" to be attributed to the broom. These highly abrasive brushes are well suited for heavier industrial applications like metal finishing and well cleaning. We can also offer a combination of both poly and steel filaments. Using both filament types gives you the added benefit of something harder than poly but softer than steel wire. It is best suited for applications like road resurfacing and construction.
