Drilled Ruby Ball 8.0

We produce ruby balls ranging from 0.30mm to 10.0mm in diameter. Blind or through holes can be drilled.

It has a hardness of 2300 HV, which is much harder than most known hard materials such as ceramics.

Ruby raw material is grown in a factory by melting ultra-pure Al2O3 at temperatures higher than [click and drag to move] 2000 degrees. Celsius creates a single crystal [click and drag to move]. This hard material can be polished to a very good surface finish [click and drag to move].

Applications requiring wear resistance to metals and chemicals use ruby balls for extended service life [click and drag to move].

In terms of visual appearance [click and drag to move], the ruby ball can have a scratch/gouge-free surface finish at 20x magnification (depending on the diameter of the ruby ball lens).

Applications include sapphire or ruby spherical lenses, which require hard materials that can withstand thermal and environmental shocks, high wear resistance and chemical compatibility. We offer sapphire and ruby balls in a variety of sizes with diameters as low as [click and drag to move] 0.15mm. Sapphire and ruby spheres have sphericity tolerances of 0.135 microns and diameters of ±0.25 microns (grade 5).
