Wireless Vehicle Detecting Solution
1 Summary
iANT Networks focuses on the innovation and manufacture of wireless vehicle detecting solution and real-time traffic information collection system. By virtue of the application of advanced sensing technology, wireless communication technology, and many years' experiences in this field, iANT is successes in creating the WVD series wireless vehicle detector products and WAP series wireless access point, which build up a real-time wireless vehicle detection solution and traffic information monitoring system. In the past 5 more years, iANT wireless vehicle detecting products had successfully replaced loops to monitor vehicles and the relative velocity, occupy rate and traffic flow in many projects of artery, freeway and intersection applications, for example in traffic flow monitoring system, red signal and speed enforcement, traffic lights optimization, traffic guide and traveler information systems, adaptive traffic signal control, arterial performance measurement, etc...
2 Principle
By capture the tiny change of magnetism caused by the passing vehicle, WVDs (Wireless Vehicle Detectors) calculate the vehicle velocity, length, type and occupy rate rapidly, and then send these information to the WAPs (Wireless Access Points), which will receive all the on line WVDs' information and transmit these data to the user systems through RS-232/485, Internet, GPRS, etc...
3 Advantages
Compare with the conventional vehicle detecting methods such as loops, micro-wave, video etc., iANT company' s wireless vehicle detector (WVD) has the follow advantages:
a) Install fast. It is only almost 6 minutes that is needed to install one WVD detector in the road, after installation, the traffic control could be released immediately, while other kinds of detector may need much time to cut slots on the road surface, put cables and set up poles to install devices;
b) Work all-weather. Bad weather for example heavy fog, snow and rain makes no difference;
c) No damage to the road. There' s no need to cut slots on the road surface and place cables or wires as the installation of loops, but only a hole with the size of 12cm dimension and 10cm depth when installation, which makes WVDs become the most suitable vehicle detecting solution on the city high-way and bridges.;
d) About 5 years long life span. With high standard water proof and anti-press characteristics, WVD wireless vehicle detector can even be used in the damaged or distorted roads where loops cannot be installed.
e) Cost saving. WVD wireless vehicle detector is installed in a small hole on the surface of the road, so costs of many cables, poles and related human work are saved. The whole process of installation is very fast and convenient, which greatly reduces the time of traffic controlling;
f) Simply maintaining. Unlike the loops that are easily to be damaged but difficultly to be repaired, WVD wireless vehicle detector supports firmware updating over the air. No need to re-cut the slots, no more materials needed, and all of what you need is to take almost 10 minutes for the devices wireless updating;
g) Low operation consuming. Due to the ultra-low power design and battery supply solution, WVD wireless vehicle detector' s consumed power is very lower than any other detectors like loops, video, micro-wave etc. in the market. This appears more and more significantly to our environments;
h) Replace loops seamlessly. The same installation position and compatible output signals makes it easily and simply to replace loops in your system directly.

5 Installation
In the application of traffic signal controlling, traffic flow monitoring, traffic guiding, speed enforcement and red light enforcement, the installing place of the wireless vehicle detector (WVD) is the same as loops. The installation and signal connection of wireless access point (WAP) is compatible to loop controller, see following figure.
