Han Huang (723--787), alias Tai Chong, lived in Chang'An (now Xi'An). His major was painting and calligraphy. For the calligraphy he learned from ZhangXu, for the painting he learned from Lu Tanwei. He was good at drawing the folklore, especially for the oxen and horses. "The Picture of Five Oxen" was his famous masterpiece. In this picture, one ox in the central and showed its front appearance, while others were in different patterns, one blew its head to feed, one went forward straight, one looked back and lap, all with different accuracy and vivid appearances. He painted it by simple but changeable method, thin and steady colors. All of these appropriate showed the ribs and thicker skins of the oxen. The descendants call it for " lively and rare painting in the world".
