Vacuum Conveyor: Core Equipment for Dust-Free and Closed Conveying

I. Core Definition and Working Principle

A vacuum conveyor is a device that generates negative pressure through a vacuum pump and utilizes the pressure difference to achieve dust-free and closed conveying of granular and powdered materials. Its working process can be divided into three stages:

Vacuum Generation

After the vacuum pump is started, it extracts air from inside the system, creating a negative pressure state in the suction nozzle and conveying pipeline.

Material Suction

Under the effect of the pressure difference, the material mixes with air to form an airflow, which is then drawn into the vacuum hopper through the suction pipe.

Air-Material Separation and Discharge

The material falls freely into the hopper under the action of gravity, while the air is discharged from the system through a filter, achieving air-material separation. The filter prevents the leakage of material dust, ensuring a clean working environment.

II. Equipment Composition and Key Components

A vacuum conveyor consists of the following core components:

Vacuum Pump

It provides the negative pressure power. Common types include vortex air pumps and Roots blowers. They need to be oil-free and water-free to ensure a pollution-free conveying process.

Vacuum Hopper

It temporarily stores the sucked-in materials. The design should consider matching the volume with the material flowability.

Filter

It separates the material from the air. The filter materials can be polyester coated, PE, 316L stainless steel, or titanium. Regular reverse blowing cleaning is required to maintain breathability.

Reverse Blowing Device

It uses compressed air pulses to reverse blow the filter, removing adhered materials and ensuring stable system operation.

Discharge Valve

It controls the flow of materials from the hopper. The common type is a pneumatic discharge gate, which supports automated control.

Material Level Control Device

It uses sensors to monitor the material level in the hopper, enabling automatic start-stop of material feeding to avoid overflow or idle running.

III. Technical Characteristics and Advantages

Dust-Free and Closed Conveying

The entire conveying process is enclosed in pipelines, eliminating dust leakage. It complies with GMP management requirements and is especially suitable for industries with strict hygiene standards, such as food and pharmaceuticals.

High Space Utilization

The compact design of pipeline conveying allows it to adapt to narrow spaces and optimize workshop layouts.

Flexible Conveying Distance

It is not limited by short or long distances and supports cross-floor or long-distance material transmission.

High Degree of Automation

Through a PLC control system, it achieves precise control of the suction and discharge times. It supports linkage with upstream and downstream equipment, reducing manual intervention.

Easy Maintenance

Modular design (e.g., quick-open clamp connections) facilitates disassembly and cleaning. The filter elements are replaceable, extending the equipment's service life.

Corrosion-Resistant Materials

The parts in contact with the materials are made of 304 or 316L stainless steel, which is acid-resistant and corrosion-resistant, suitable for harsh environments in the chemical industry.

IV. Application Areas and Industry Suitability

Vacuum conveyors are widely used in the following industries:

Food Industry

They convey flour, starch, sugar, food additives, etc., improving production efficiency and reducing artificial contact pollution.

Pharmaceutical Industry

They transport raw pharmaceutical materials, powdered drugs, and granular materials, ensuring the quality and safety of drug production.

Chemical Industry

They convey pigments, dyes, fillers, etc., meeting the requirements of airtightness and explosion protection (which requires explosion-proof design).

Plastics Industry

They transmit plastic granules, color masterbatches, and fillers, supporting the automation of injection molding and extrusion processes.

New Energy Industry

They convey battery materials and solar panel materials, requiring high-precision control to ensure product performance.

Agricultural Sector

They convey agricultural chemicals, feed, and fertilizers, promoting the automation of agricultural production.

V. Selection and Usage Considerations

Material Characteristic Matching

Avoid conveying materials that are too moist, viscous, or heavy to prevent pipeline blockage or equipment damage.

Operating Mode Selection

Choose fully automatic, semi-automatic, or manual equipment according to needs, balancing convenience and cost.

Material and Workmanship Requirements

Prioritize stainless steel materials to ensure corrosion resistance and easy cleaning. Avoid thin-walled designs that may shorten the equipment's lifespan.

Easy Maintenance

Select equipment with a simple structure and modular design for easy daily maintenance and filter element replacement.

Industry-Specific Requirements

  • Chemical Industry: Requires explosion-proof design and special alloy materials.
  • Food and Pharmaceutical Industries: Requires a smooth surface for easy cleaning and food-grade stainless steel for contact parts.
  • New Energy Industry: Requires a high-precision control system to support precise micro-conveying.

VI. Typical Application Cases

Pharmaceutical Enterprises

Vacuum conveyors are used to automate the conveying of raw pharmaceutical materials from storage tanks to reaction kettles, reducing artificial contact and the risk of cross-contamination.

Food Factories

In flour conveying processes, vacuum conveyors are used in conjunction with dust removal systems to ensure that the air cleanliness in the workshop meets standards.

Chemical Production Lines

When conveying corrosive pigments, titanium filters and explosion-proof vacuum pumps are selected to meet safety production requirements.
