Product Description

The transmission line type speaker was originally called a maze design, where the speaker is mounted on one end of the speaker, and through a complex and long tuning channel, the back wave of the individual is diffused from the opening at the other end. The first maze design was designed by Banjamin Olney for Stromberg Carson in 1936. He placed a single unit with a resonance frequency of 50Hz into the maze speaker, resulting in a resonance frequency reduction to 40Hz and an increase in the half wave frequency of 75-80Hz at 40Hz, producing good bass. But he also found that the response curve generated many peaks, which came from the resonance of the speaker channel itself. So he laid sound-absorbing materials and guides in the channel, cutting off frequencies above 150Hz at the opening. Maze design can achieve good low-frequency extension, but its production is cumbersome and cannot compete with the economical low-frequency reflective design for simple enclosed designs. Therefore, in the 1950s, Carson once again promoted maze design, but it was still unsuccessful. When the maze horn reappeared in the mid-1960s, it had a new name - the transmission line horn.
