Slot description- Power slot
The CE8850-64CQ-EI switch contains two power slots to support the installation of pluggable power modules. Users can use single or dual power modules to power the switch, and using dual power modules to power the switch can provide higher reliability for the switch. The CE8850-64CQ-EI switches support 1+1 backup of dual power modules.- When both power modules are working properly, each power module provides half the power to the switch.
- When one of the power modules fails, the other power supply module provides full power to the switch.
All power modules are hot-swappable. - Fan slots
To ensure system stability and heat dissipation, each CE8850-64CQ-EI switch provides three fan module slots, and pluggable fan modules are installed to force heat dissipation. In normal use, the switch requires three fan modules to be in place at the same time and operate properly.
All fan modules are hot-swappable.
Heat dissipation air ductDepending on the power modules and fan modules that use different air ducts, the cooling air ducts of CloudEngine 8800, 6800, and 5800 series switches can be divided into front and rear air ducts or rear front air ducts. The type of air duct power module and fan module you choose depends on the installation orientation of CloudEngine 8800, 6800, and 5800 series switches in the cabinet. For example, if the power supply side is facing forward and the port side facing backward in the cabinet, the switch needs to use the fan module and power module of the front and rear air ducts.- Front and rear air ducts: The heat dissipation air ducts are on or marked on the power modules and fan modules of the front and rear air ducts. Figure 2-170 shows the airflow direction of the switch as follows the inlet air on the power supply side and the outlet air on the port side (CE5800 device is used as an example).
- Rear front air duct: The heat dissipation air duct is on or marked on the power module and fan module of the rear front air duct. The airflow of the switch is as follows the intake air on the port side and the outlet air on the power supply side, as shown in Figure 2-106 (CE5800 device is used as an example).
- If the switch uses an air-cooled power module and a fan module, the direction of the heat dissipation air duct used by the power module and the fan module must be the same.

In this case, observe the interface indicator at the digit 5 in Figure 2-172:- If the serial number lamp 1 is on, the indicator of each interface indicates the status of the first 10GE/25GE interface on the interface.
- If the serial number light 2 is on, the indicator of each interface indicates the status of the second 10GE/25GE interface on the interface.
- If the serial number light 3 is on, the indicator of each interface indicates the status of the third 10GE/25GE interface in the interface.
- If the serial number light 4 is on, the indicator of each interface indicates the status of the fourth 10GE/25GE interface in the interface.

10GE SFP+ encapsulated optical interface
Two 10GE SFP+ encapsulated optical interfaces are not available and are reserved for subsequent function expansion.
Console interfaceThe console interface is used to connect to the console to implement the on-site configuration function, and the console commissioning cable needs to be used. - The console interface and the mini USB interface are multiplexed, and they are the same interface internally. Users can choose between the Console port or the Mini USB port according to their needs, and when the Mini USB port is activated, the Console port is not available.
- If both ports are wired, the Mini USB port is preferred.
Mini USB port
The Mini USB interface is used to connect to the console to realize the on-site configuration function of the system, and the configuration terminal at the peer end needs to install the USB serial driver. As long as the Mini USB interface is wired normally, the serial port will be switched to the Mini USB interface.
ETH Management Interface (RJ45)The ETH management interface (RJ45) is used to connect with the network port of the configuration terminal or network management workstation to build an on-site or remote configuration environment, and needs to be matched with Category 5 or higher network cables. Longest effective distance | 100m |
The CE8850-64CQ-EI has two ETH management interfaces (RJ45), and the precautions for using the two interfaces are as follows:- Two interfaces cannot be used at the same time, just select one of them.
- Before the device starts, you can choose to use interface 1 or interface 2 in the BIOS menu, and interface 1 is used by default.
- After the device is successfully enrolled:
- If both management interfaces are connected and up, interface 1 will be used as the active, interface 2 will be automatically used as a backup without configuration, and the management port numbers displayed on the CLI interface of the device are MEth0/0/0.
- If the two management interfaces are connected after the device is registered, the first-in-first-use principle is implemented.
- If interface 1 fails, the system automatically switches to interface 2, and switches back to interface 1 only if interface 2 fails or the device restarts. You can check which interface is currently in use by looking at the indicator lights on the physical interface (the link indicator of the ETH interface in use will be solid green, the ACT light will flash yellow when there is data transmission, and the indicator lights of the standby interface will always be off).
