Xigui Manglu Mountain is located in the jurisdiction of Bangdong Village Committee, the easternmost part of Linxiang District, Lincang City, 12 kilometers away from Bangdong Village.
The scenery of Manlu Mountain is beautiful, and the natural landscape is very charming. The soil is a typical red soil along the Lancang River, and the forest vegetation is a subtropical seasonal rainforest. Common plants in the forest include Chinese toon, camphor, big leaved banyan, beef rib, olive, and wild mango.
Open the soup, the color is light yellow and clear, and it is fragrant upon entry without any impurities, with a sweet taste; After three steeps, the aftertaste becomes more pronounced, with a high and sharp aroma. The cheeks and tongue generate saliva, and the tongue feels slightly astringent, melting quickly; Four to six bubbles, the aroma is like orchid, the aroma of rock sugar gradually becomes apparent, the water quality is relatively viscous, after heavy hand soaking, it becomes bitter, lighter, and easy to dissolve; After seven steeps, the color of the soup remains almost unchanged. It is pure, better, slightly astringent, with a deep throat flavor and a long aftertaste; After ten bubbles, the water gradually fades, the sweetness slightly decreases, and the sweetness returns to a good level. The aroma of rock sugar still lingers.
Some people say that "Xigui" is "Lincang Banzhang". I used to drink less and didn't know much about it. I also think so, maybe referring to "price". I found that Xigui and Banzhang are completely different styles, each with its own strengths. The old Banzhang is too strong, while Xigui is more elegant. A few bubbles in the front have a full and strong taste, which is more suitable for men to drink, while a few bubbles in the back have a Lan Yun and rock sugar fragrance, making it very comfortable for women to drink.
Xigui, Bangdong Administrative Village, Bangdong Township, Lincang, is a mountainous area. 12 kilometers away from the village committee and 16 kilometers away from the township government. The area is about 4 square kilometers, with an altitude of 750 meters, an average annual temperature of 21 ºC, and an annual precipitation of 1200 millimeters. The ancient tea gardens of Xigui are mostly distributed in the middle of the mountains, mixed in forests. The ancient tea trees are about 200 years old, and the larger tea trees have a base circumference of 60-110 centimeters. In the "Annals of Maining County" during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, it was recorded that "there were about 6000 to 7000 tea growers in the entire county, and in Bangdong Township, the tea was produced by Man Lu and Xi Gui You. The Man Lu tea had excellent color and flavor, surpassing other tea producing areas.". The barbarian deer referred to here is now called Manlu, and the Xigui is now called Xigui.
In 1970, the village consolidation movement was implemented, and the villagers on the busy foothills gradually moved to Xigui Village to live. Since then, Xigui Village has refined 100 kilograms of Xigui tea annually and submitted it to the county. At that time, tea farmers referred to it as "county committee tea", and the reason why the county chose Xigui tea as the tea for reception etiquette was none other than this.
