A composite material bonded with polycrystalline diamond thin layer on cemented carbide substrate is called diamond composite plate, and the code name is PDC. Diamond composite sheet with extremely high wear resistance of polycrystalline diamond and hard alloy with high impact resistance, and the diamond layer can keep the cutting edge sharp, so in the petroleum and geological drilling in soft to medium hard formations, the effect is very good. The diamond content in the composite is as high as 99%, so the diamond layer has high hardness and excellent wear resistance, and its Knoop hardness is (6.5 ~ 7) * 104 MPa, or even higher. Its thickness is very thin, generally control in 0.5 ~ 1 millimeters or so. Vertically mounted on a drill bit, it has a sharp edge and always stays sharp, also known as a micro cutting tool.
Performance and cutting characteristics
1, hardness of HV7500-9000, second only to natural diamond, and its hardness and wear resistance in all directions, without election. Its strength is higher than that of hard alloy because of its toughness, and its composite bending strength can reach 1500Mpa.
2, with high wear resistance, and its resistance to wear is generally 60-80 times of carbide. When cutting a high hardness (HV>1500) non-metallic material, the tool has a high durability. 3, with a lower coefficient of friction, diamond and non-ferrous metal friction coefficient of 0.1-0.
3, and carbide and non-ferrous metal friction coefficient is 0.3-0.6, so that when using PCD tools, can reduce the cutting force and cutting temperature of about 1/2-1/3.
4, with high thermal conductivity, diamond thermal conductivity of 146W/M. K, is 1.5-7 times of carbide, can greatly reduce the temperature of the cutting area, improve tool durability.
5, diamond line expansion coefficient is very small (0.9-1.18*10 (-6) mm/mm., temperature) about general steel (11*10 (-6) mm/mm. 1/10. temperature) and because the blade sharp, the machined surface cold hardness is small for carbide tool about 1/3, so the processing precision is good.
6, because of the polycrystalline layer particle diameter is about 2-0.5 microns, its sharp edge is less than that of natural diamond cutting tool, so the machining accuracy is lower than that of natural diamond tools, can only reach the surface roughness of Ra0.2-0.05 micron, but it can be made into the sea large blade, used for molding processing.
