Liquid Liquid Extraction Mixer settler is a step-by-step contact Liquid Liquid extraction equipment that forced by gravity to achieve two-phase separation.

Mixer-settler Liquid Liquid Extraction consists of stirring system, mixing zone, clarification zone and phase separation zone. The two mutually insoluble liquid phases in each stage of the equipment will undergo two processes of stirring, mixing and clarification and phase separation, thereby achieving the target solute in different liquids.

 

Mixer settler Liquid Liquid Extraction Working Principle

The feed liquid and extraction feed by pump to enter the mixing chamber through respective feed inlets. The high-speed rotating agitator causes the feed liquid and extraction to mix and transfer, and then flow into the clarification chamber through the overflow baffle. Under the action of gravity, the light and heavy phases are separated, then respectively flow out ,to complete one time of extraction process.

 

Mixer Settler Mixing Section:

Light phases and Heavy phase inlet pipes.This section is a chamber in which two fluids get into contact and an agitator is installed in order to mix the liquids thoroughly. Baffles are also installed so that mixing is efficient and the vortex is eliminated.

Mixer Settler Settling Section:

It is the part of the section where the mixed liquids enter in order to separate into two different phases based on density differences and there are weirs in order to separate both the phases.  
For industrial production, the mixer settler is generally connected by multi-stage, including multiple sections such as extraction section, stripping section, washing section and regeneration section.
