Spring hangers are used to provide support to a pipe at a support location at the time the pipe is installed. Pipe movement is generally caused by thermal expansion or contraction of the piping system but it can also result from the movement of the equipment to which the pipe is connected. The underlying objective for using a spring hanger is to minimize the change of load applied by the piping on the connected equipment.
