2006 China International Industry Fair

Jointly organized by National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Science, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, co-organized by China Machinery Industry Federation and managed by Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd., China International Industry Fair (hereinafter referred as "CIIF") is the only one of its kind in China, which puts emphasis on the latest high-tech products in the world. CIIF is held on November annually in Shanghai. CIIF originated from Shanghai International Industry Fair, which started from 1999, has entered into the eighth year by continuous, healthy and steady development. Approved by the State Council, Shanghai International Industry Fair has been renamed as China International Industry Fair from 2006 to build a state-based and international platform to exhibit the most advanced technologies and products on industrial field. CIIF has extended its scale from 15,000 square meters in the first session to 103,500 square meters in this year’s session. Number of participating enterprises increased from over 400 for the first session to 1,306 for the seventh, the number of booths from 800 for the first session to 3,418 for the sixth, and the number of visitors went up from 220,000 man times to 284,900 for the sixth. CIIF has become more globalized with increasing number of overseas enterprises participating in it. The number of booths went up from over 50 in the first session to 930 in the seventh. Overseas participating enterprises came from more than over 30 countries and regions including USA, Germany, UK, France, Netherlands, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, Israel, Belarus, Japan, Korea, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan and Hong Kong from China. Exhibition delegations were sent from nearly 10 countries and regions including Japan, Korea, Singapore, India, Russia, Belarus and Taiwan and participants included those from top 500 enterprises like ABB, Siemens, Microsoft, General Electric, IBM, Roche, Johnson & Johnson, Emerson, 3M, Motorola, FAG, Hitachi, Volvo BASF, Bayer, Tyco, BP, Toyota and Shanghai Bell-Alcatel. CIIF serves more and more areas in China. Besides enterprises in Shanghai, participating enterprises came from 28 provinces, municipalities autonomous regions. Governments in Beijing, Shanxi, Shandong, Guangdong, Henan, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Harbin and Hangzhou sent their delegations to the exhibition. There were 582 participating enterprises (institutions) and over 1,354 booths making up 39.61% of the total number of booths available. Participants in the event included a batch of Chinese enterprises holding leading positions in their respective sectors, such as Baosteel, Shanghai Electric, Petrochina, Sinopec, China Mobile, SVA, Dazhu Laser, Huaxin Digital, Shanghai Pharmacy, Huabei Science & Technology, and Changjiang Computer. To make CIIF a worldwide famous large industry fair, the sponsoring committee decides to hold the eighth China International Industry Fair at Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong New Area, Shanghai during November 1 to 5, 2006, having 103,500 square meter exhibition area and offering 4,500 booths with four specialized shows such as Information Technology Equipment Show, CNC Machine Tool & Special Purpose Equipment Show, Energy Show, Industrial Automation Show, Scientific & Technological Achievement Show. It will introduce tens of thousands of exhibits and thousands of items for investment, technology and property right, announce projects for foreign investment, and introduce risk investment funds for exchange, transaction and negotiation for Chinese and foreign investors.
