Question 2

How To Configure Wavecom Modem For SMS Sending?

Accepted Answer

Configuring a Wavecom modem for SMS sending is a straightforward process that can be accomplished with a few simple steps. First, ensure that the modem is properly connected to your computer or server. This typically involves connecting the modem via a USB or serial port and installing any necessary drivers to ensure that the device is recognized by your operating system.
Once the modem is connected, you will need to access the modem's configuration settings. This can usually be done through a terminal program or a dedicated software application provided by the manufacturer. In the configuration settings, you will need to set the appropriate communication parameters, such as baud rate, data bits, stop bits, and parity. These settings must match the specifications of the modem to ensure proper communication.
After configuring the communication settings, the next step is to set up the SMS parameters. This includes specifying the SMS center number, which is essential for sending messages through the mobile network. You can typically find this number from your mobile service provider. Once the SMS center number is entered, you can test the configuration by sending a test message to a mobile phone.
To send an SMS, you will need to use AT commands, which are standard commands used to control modems. The command for sending an SMS is usually AT+CMGS, followed by the recipient's phone number and the message content. After entering the command, you will need to send the message by pressing the appropriate key, usually Ctrl+Z, to indicate the end of the message.
It is important to monitor the modem's response to ensure that the message has been sent successfully. If there are any errors, you may need to troubleshoot the configuration settings or check the network connection. With the correct setup, the Wavecom modem can efficiently send SMS messages, making it a valuable tool for communication in various applications.
