Product Description
Low density fibrous insulation is defined, for the purposes of this Standard, as material with a density below 50 kg/m3, supplied in compression packaging. Common materials of this type include rockwool, glass wool, polyester fibre and wool. Also included are combinations of these materials and any other fibres with similar properties, which may be bonded so as to produce a flexible, compressible formed shape or blanket.
The reference standards are:
AS/NZS 4859.1 Materials for the thermal insulation of buildings; Part 1: General criteria and technical provisions.
ASTM C167-09 Standard Test Methods for Thickness and Density of Blanket or Batt Thermal Insulations.
ASTM C653-97 Standard Guide for Determination of the Thermal Resistance of Low-Density Blanket-Type Mineral Fiber Insulation.
ASTM C518-04 Standard Test Method for Steady-State Heat Thermal Transmission Properties by Means of the Heat Flow Meter Apparatus.
The products must pass the tests of: Measurement on dimensions, weight, density; Testing on R-value.
When exporting to Australia, the manfuacturer must make label in the package, to show the testing results, the traceability information and so on.
