Fu (good fortune), written by emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, is regarded as "The first Fu in the world" in China. Its right half is an imitation of the handwriting of Shou (longevity) on the famous scroll of Orchid Pavilion written by Wang Xizhi, Chinese famous calligrapher. So it is the first handwriting that combines Fu and Shou into a singe character of Chinese handwriting. Fu in Chinese also means family happiness, gift (wealth), farmland, longevity and good luck. The handwriting has a long, slender shape and sounds like Shou, embodying good fortune and longevity. Above Fu is Kangxi's seal, which is surrounded by a number of dragons, suggesting double happiness of fortune and longevity. It supposedly can bring extremely good luck and success to the owner.
