Rod End Joint Bearing
The joint bearing is a spherical plain bearing, and the basic type is composed of inner and outer rings having a spherical sliding spherical contact surface. The joint bearing is mainly composed of an inner ring with an outer spherical surface and an outer ring with an inner spherical surface, which can withstand a large load. Depending on their type and construction, it is possible to withstand radial loads, axial loads or combined loads of radial and axial forces. Since the outer surface of the inner ring is provided with a composite material, the bearing can be self-lubricated during operation. Generally used for low-speed oscillating motion, it can also be tilted in a certain range of angles. When the support shaft and the shaft housing hole are different, they can still work normally. Self-lubricating joints are used in water conservancy and professional machinery industries. Because the spherical sliding contact area of the joint bearing is large, the inclination angle is large, and because most of the joint bearings adopt special processing methods, such as surface phosphating, galvanizing, chrome plating or outer sliding surface lining, inserting, spraying and the like. Therefore, it has large load capacity and impact resistance, and has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, self-aligning, good lubrication or self-lubricating and non-lubricating dirt pollution, even if the installation is misplaced, it can work normally. Therefore, joint bearings are widely used for low-speed oscillating motions, tilting motions, and rotational motions.

Rod Ends Requiring Lubrication
Steel-On-Steel and Steel-On-Bronze Rod Ends have very wear-resistant sliding surfaces and perform well under conditions of lubricant starvation. Rod ends with this sliding contact surface combination requiring regular relubrication. They are particularly suited for bearing arrangements where heavy alternating loads have to be accommodated.
Maintenance-free (lubrication-free) rod ends from AST have two different sliding contact surfaces: Steel-On-PTFE composite material and steel-on-PTFE fabric (depending on the diameter of the shaft). Both have very low friction and can be operated without maintenance. They are used for applications where long bearing lives are required without maintenance, or where operating conditions, such as inadequate lubrication or the absence of lubrication make the use of steel-on-steel bearing inadvisable. The maintenance-free bearings are primarily intended for applications where loads are heavy and have a constant direction.
