The Technique Requirement of 4145H MOD Steel
1. Smelting method: EAF+LF+VD
2. Forging: The forging ratio shall be not less than 3.0. The shape of forgings shall be according to the requirement of the drawing (rough turned forgings).
3. Heat treatment: Quenching & Tempering
4. Machining:
According to the drawing, the externality and dimensions must meet the requirement of the drawing. External surface area: Ra 3.2; Internal surface: Ra 6.3_12.5
5. Mechanical properties (according to ASTMA370 and API7)(in 1" depth under the surface, room temperature):
Tensile strength ≥ 965N/mm2
Yield strength ≥ 793N/mm2
Elongation ≥ 15%
Reduction of area ≥ 45%
V type notch, radial, notch direction: Radius direction: 40Ft/Lbs (≥ 54J)
6. Hardness:
Surface hardness: 285-341HB (respectively measuring one point in 300mm from both sides)
Under surface 1"hardness: 285-341HB
7. Ultrasonic test: As per ASTM A388
8. Surface defects
After final heat treatment and machining, the surface defects shall be checked for each stabilizer.
Test methods: Magnetic test or liquid penetrant inspection or other methods.
Acceptance: There shall be free from surface defects such as cracks, scabs, folds etc.
Welding repair shall be forbidden.
9. \Smelting heat No., heat treatment No. And mechanical property shall correspond, and make the mark on the forgings. For example: 12-A-B-product No. Of which, A_smelting heat No.; B_heat treatment No.; C_mechanical property No.

Our company manufactures four kinds of stabilizers as below:
1. Integral spiral stabilizer (premium chrome molybdenum alloy steel and non-magnetic low carbon chrome manganese alloy steel) Integral Spiral Stabilizers are made from AISI 4145H Modified alloy steel or Non-magnetic alloy steel, the pressed button type or applied Tungsten Carbide hard banding on the blade facing are available. The Non-magnetic stabilizers have special hard banding on the spiraled blade surface that the magnetic properties have been eliminated.
2. Interchangeable sleeve stabilizers
The interchangeable sleeve stabilizers are made of 4145H alloy steel. Heat treated to 285-341 Brinell Hardness and 54 Joules minimum impact 118alue. All physical properties would be guaranteed 1" below the surface. The kind of stabilizer is constructed of two pieces which are jointed by the center connection and one sleeve. Every stabilizer is equipped with a certain size of sleeve.
3. Sleeve Stabilizer
The sleeve stabilizers are made of 4145H modified alloy steel which is fully heat-treated to 285-341 Brinell Hardness and 54 Joules minimum impact 118alue. The stabilizer consists of a one piece of body and a sleeve which is jointed, the sleeve can be changed after fretted
4. Integral Straight Rib Stabilizer
The straight rib stabilizers are made of AISI 4145H alloy steel by one piece of integral bar. Every stabilizer has four straight ribs that pressed Tungsten Carbide buttons or other types of hard facing are located on the surface of the ribs. Ultrasonic inspection is performed on each stabilizer.
