Since 1995,we have made great efforts to develop a new type of grinding roller made of ultra-hard abrasion-resistant material. The new type of grinding roller consists of a model alloy thick surface coating and an inner steel ring base. The surface model alloy can provide grinding roller with excellent abrasion resistance, and the high combining strength between model alloy surface coating and inner steel ring base ensuring that the surface abrasion-resistant alloy can not spall off from its steel base. Compared with the grinding rollers, which are traditionally made of nickel-hard cast iron, high chrome cast iron or hard-facing materials, and the model alloy can greatly prolong the service life of grinding roller.
Model alloy grinding roller and ring segments are made of WC (W2C)/Mn copper-nickel-matrix model alloy, which is a kind of ceramic particle reinforced metal-matrix wear-resistant composite designed for abrasives resistance. Usually the thickness of the alloy layer is 8~18mm. When the thickness is 10mm, the service life of grinding roller is about 25,000 hours (when Ke<7); and when the thickness is 6mm the service life of ring segments is about 40,000 hours.
Model alloy grinding roller and ring segments can provide the medium-speed mill with such unique characters as below:
Low vibrancy: which can prolong the service life of the packings and bearings.
Long service life: the service life of model alloy grinding roller and ring segments can prolong the service life of the mill to a great extent.
High running efficiency: the fineness of coal-powder remains constant.
Low energy dissipation
According to the comparing result in a same operation period on grinding roller D of mill No.6 at Jingyuan coal-fired power plant, when the grinding roller made of hard-facing material had been worn away for 50mm deep, the worn depth of our model alloy grinding roller could hardly be detected.
Besides the grinding roller and ring segments, we have also developed the long-life nuzzle ring, protecting liner, eliminating valve and related pieces which lower the mill's maintaining frequency. Our efforts on these make medium-speed mill to be a ideal type mill with considerably low manufacturing cost, low running cost, high running efficiency and low maintenance rate.
