Jiangsu Engineering Translation Institute, founded in May 1978 as the first large sized institution specialized in technical and engineering translation in China, is a provincial-level institution directly subordinated to the Construction Commission of Jiangsu Province.
The institute has 250 full-time staff members and workers, among whom over 150 are translators and interpreters (including more than 50 with senior technical titles), over 20 engineering and technical personnel and three specialists who are receivers of state subsidies for their special contributions to the country.The senior translators of our institute have the experience of over 20 years in the translation of technical and engineering documents, each with an individual volume of translation and proof-reading totaling over 10 million Chinese characters, therefore competent for doing translation work in many specialties.
Our translation work is supported by computers and laser printers, and the translated documents are edited and printed into books by offset printing machines and copying machines.These equipment, over 100 sets in total, have greatly enhanced our translation capability, which has now increased to about 100 million Chinese characters, converted into about 100 tons of printed materials annually.
Our main customers are large and medium imported projects, mostly key projects of the state.Over the past twenty years, we have provided translation service for over 3000 such projects throughout the country.Most of them are in the fields of power generation (including nuclear power), petrochemicals, machine building and electronics, building material, textile, printing and dyeing, metallurgy and light industry, and the translated documents are for various specialties of civil engineering, all types of production equipment and lines, electric and electronic engineering, computer, etc.Our service has been highly appreciated by our customers.
Our translation process is always put under strict and scientific management and well organized.Quality control is performed throughout the whole process from translation through editing to printing.A dedicated Quality Assurance Department is in charge of the quality work for the whole institute, and our quality control system and personnel qualification have passed the stringent examination by a number of customers.We have established a complete set of management and working procedures proven to be suitable to the translation of huge amount of technical documents.All the documents translated are examined, edited according to the publication standards, keeping the same format and content as the original.
Our scope of services includes:
Translation from foreign language into Chinese or vice versa of all types of engineering and technical documents of various specialties;
Typing, plate-setting, copying and printing of various documents in both Chinese and foreign languages;
Copying and reproducible-making for various engineering drawings;
Interpretation service for various projects, including that for negotiations, surveys and site works.
This institute has so far translated all types of technical and engineering documents of about 2 million pages, or about 1.3 billion Chinese characters, with the translated documents printed amounting to about 1000 tons.In the meantime, we offered interpretation, engineering and management services for about 200, 000 man-days, and our staff members have left their footprints in over 50 countries and regions over the world.More than 300 projects for which we rendered our service have been successfully completed and put into operation.
