HOT STANDBY BACKUP
The hot standby backup design is adopted, such that dual control units are operating independently. In the event that one control unit fails the other unit maintains full function and there is no interruption in operation at all.

HIGH LEVEL OF RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
The dimmer modules are designed for reliable operation even in the most demanding of conditions. Each module is equipped with its own high-speed microprocessor to monitor the instantaneous power output, control the firing modulation and regulate the output voltages. The result is an unmatched capacity to tolerate fluctuations in voltage and frequency while maintaining stability of output.
SMART VENTILATION
This is a forced exhaust design. The exhaust fan is installed at the top of the rack. By design fresh cooling air enters from the front of each dimmer module and the heated air then further drawn to exit the rack through the fan. Applying precision in design, respecting principles of fluid dynamics, and strict control in production, uniform airflow rate around each and every dimmer module is achieved. This ensures every dimmer module would operate reliably, making certain the operation temperature is acceptable. The smart ventilation system detects temperature rise inside the rack and adjusts the rate of airflow accordingly. Normally, the exhaust fan maintains low speed for reduced noise. When loading is increased, the fan speed increases in response to effectively remove the extra heat and maintain a low temperature.
CONSTRUCTION
The housing of the removable dimmer module is made of die-cast aluminum. Each module contains circuit breakers, solid state power switching device (SSR), a high-speed micro-processor and filter chokes. All modules can be independently inserted to or removed from the dimmer rack.
CHOKES
The chokes used for the DPR120E dimmers conform to British Standards. (BS800: Rise time not less than 200 us)Rise time as high as 400 us for the "Super Quiet" model.
POWER CONNECTION
Each dimmer circuit is protected by a fast-acting Mini Circuit Breaker (MCB) against short-circuit or overload. The purpose-designed MCB not only protects the dimmer but also would not inadvertently break open the circuit from unintentional physical impact. The MCB can serve as an on-off switch for the dimmer circuit also.
DIMMER CURVES
The "S-curve" is adopted for dimming (the power curve in the diagram). The profile effectively solves problems in dimming by increasing the effective range from 25-75% to 5-95%, resulting in a linear correlation between the dimmer output and the brightness of the lighting.
