The fibers, either single-mode or multi-mode, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high-modulus polyester material. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant compound. At the center of the cable core is a metal reinforcement core, which for certain cores is extruded with a layer of polyethylene (PE). The loose tubing (and filling rope) is stranded around the central strengthening core into a compact circular cable core, and the gaps in the cable core are filled with water-blocking filler. Coated with plastic aluminum tape (APL), the cable is formed by extruding polyethylene sheath.
